What happens if Quarterdeck cancels a booking?

Quarterdeck may cancel a Booking, withdraw a proposed Staff Member, or suspend or terminate an Assignment before or during the Assignment if it reasonably considers this necessary. This can happen for operational, safety, safeguarding, compliance, suitability, or events-outside-control reasons.

When can Quarterdeck cancel a booking?

Quarterdeck may cancel if there is Staff Member unavailability, illness, withdrawal, or non-performance, as well as safety or welfare concerns, legal or regulatory issues, visa or permit issues, inaccurate or misleading information, material changes to the Assignment, operational reasons, or events outside QD’s reasonable control.

What counts as an event outside Quarterdeck’s reasonable control?

Examples can include epidemic or pandemic disruption, public health restrictions, government action, travel restrictions, weather events, natural disaster, transport disruption, local restrictions, venue closure, property unavailability, marina or port restrictions, or other events that materially affect the Assignment.

Will I get a refund if Quarterdeck cancels before the Start Date?

Yes, if Quarterdeck cancels the Booking before the Start Date and no replacement or suitable alternative is provided or accepted, Quarterdeck will refund any sums paid for the affected Booking.

What if Quarterdeck offers a replacement or alternative?

If Quarterdeck proposes a replacement Staff Member or a reasonable alternative arrangement and you reject it, Quarterdeck may treat the Booking as cancelled by you. In that case, the normal cancellation and refund rules may apply.

What if Quarterdeck cancels after the Assignment has started?

If Quarterdeck cancels or interrupts an Assignment after the Start Date due to events outside QD’s reasonable control, Quarterdeck may, at its discretion, offer a partial refund, a credit toward a future Booking, or a replacement or alternative arrangement. Quarterdeck is not obliged to do so unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise in the terms.

Will Quarterdeck cover my other costs?

Not usually. The Staff Booking Terms say Quarterdeck is not liable for flights, accommodation, transport, provisioning, permit costs, visa costs, third-party charges, loss of opportunity, loss of enjoyment, or other indirect or consequential costs arising from cancellation, interruption, delay, substitution, or related events, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

In summary

If Quarterdeck cancels a booking before the Start Date and no suitable replacement is available, sums paid for the Booking are refunded. If Quarterdeck offers a reasonable replacement and you reject it, the cancellation may be treated as a client cancellation. If disruption happens after the Assignment starts, Quarterdeck may offer a partial refund, credit, or alternative, but this is not automatic.
