Responsibility depends on the structure of the Assignment.

If the Staff Member is working as a consultant or contractor, they are generally responsible for their own right to work, visa position, permit position, tax position, and personal compliance unless something different has been expressly agreed.

If the Staff Member is employed under a specific assignment structure, the employee is still responsible for holding and maintaining any personal right to work or immigration status required for that role, while the hiring setup may also involve separate employer-side obligations depending on the jurisdiction and structure.

What is Quarterdeck’s role?

Quarterdeck may help coordinate certain compliance-related items if this is expressly agreed, but Quarterdeck is a UK-based company and does not act as a local immigration, visa, or work permit provider in every destination.

As a general principle, Quarterdeck will usually prioritise Staff Members who are resident in, or already have the right to work in, the destination concerned, where that is relevant to the Assignment.

Who handles travel and accommodation?

Travel and accommodation are generally the hiring party’s responsibility unless Quarterdeck has expressly agreed in writing to arrange them. You should make sure these arrangements are suitable for the Assignment and clearly disclosed in advance.

What does local compliance include?

Local compliance can include permits, licences, registrations, insurance, health and safety requirements, safeguarding requirements, and any local authorisations needed for the Assignment. As the hiring party, you are responsible for complying with the obligations that fall on you under local law and under the conditions of the Assignment.
