The pass rate varies but is usually around 90%
We try to be very selective and only choose candidates why have the right background to be able to pass.
Why do some people fail?
Skippers - poor communication skills under stress, lack of talent for docking a 50ft yacht, insufficient team working skills and attitude
Hosts - Insufficient cooking skills you need to be passionate about food and service. It's not enough to be great at making eggs/tacos/sandwiches. If you make a dish it needs to be good enough to satisfy guests with high demands on one of their most important holidays. Other reasons to not pass is insufficient team working skills and attitude.
At Academy we will do our very best to get everyone to pass. Some weeks every student pass which is great news. We have no ambition to fail anyone, and we count on everyone passing when plan work (assignments) for all students. When academy starts you will already by be planned to work around 5-6 weeks as a general minimum (not guaranteed). How many weeks you will work depends on the demand that summer - hard to predict in detail when we accept all students.
