What should I expect from a typical day at Host Academy?

Updated over 6 months ago

Host Academy is an intensive, hands-on training program designed to prepare you for the realities of hosting on a yacht. Days are full, varied, and combine both cooking practice and life on the water.

Daily structure usually looks like this:

  • Morning: Breakfast prep and service, followed by cleaning and planning the day’s meals. You’ll also join sailing practice with your skipper teammates.

  • Midday: Lunch prep, cooking in a yacht galley, serving, and cleaning. Practical lessons on provisioning, budgeting, and dietary needs.

  • Afternoon: More sailing time, plus workshops on hosting standards, guest interaction, and teamwork.

  • Evening: Practice making group dinners, explore social side of hosting, and review the day with your instructor.

It’s a mix of practical cooking, yacht life experience, and teamwork — all while living onboard in real conditions. Expect long, rewarding days that push you to be resourceful, organised, and guest-focused.
