Can I arrive late to Galley Academy?

Saturday arrival is mandatory. Here is why missing the first evening puts you at a significant disadvantage.

Can I arrive late to Galley Academy?

No. Saturday arrival is mandatory and is part of the course.

Why the first evening matters

Saturday evening is not a social formality. It includes your welcome briefing, course overview, kitchen safety standards, and your first group dinner with the instructor and crewmates. These set the tone for the entire week and ensure you are oriented before Sunday, when the first full day of training begins.

Students who miss the Saturday arrival miss safety briefings they are required to have received, lose context for the week ahead, and start Day 2 already behind the rest of the group. In a course this short and this intensive, that gap is very hard to recover.

If you are travelling from far away

If you have a long journey, we strongly recommend arriving on Friday evening and booking one night nearby (not included in the course fee). For Croatia, convenient options include accommodation near Trogir, Seget, or Baotic Marina. Your check-in time on Saturday will be confirmed by email and in your WhatsApp student group before you travel.

If something unexpected happens

If you are facing a genuine emergency that may affect your arrival, contact us immediately at info@quarterdeck.co. Do not simply arrive late without letting us know.
