Do I need a visa to attend Culinary Academy?

Find out whether you need a visa to attend Culinary Academy, when a tourist visa may still be required, and how Culinary Academy differs from paid work or hospitality jobs.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

In most cases, you do not need a work visa to attend Culinary Academy because you are joining as a student or trainee, not as an employee.

Culinary Academy is a training program, not paid work. You attend to learn in a supervised course environment, not to work as hired kitchen staff.

However, you may still need a tourist visa or other permission to enter the country, depending on:

  • your nationality

  • where Culinary Academy takes place

  • how long you plan to stay

It is your responsibility to check the entry requirements for your destination before you travel. Always check the relevant embassy, consulate, or official government travel website well in advance.

Quarterdeck cannot arrange visas on your behalf. However, once your place is secured and your first payment has been made, Quarterdeck may be able to provide a confirmation of participation letter to support your visa application if needed.

If you are asking about working in hospitality or onboard roles after Academy, different visa or work permit rules may apply.
