You don’t have to bring anything. Each training yacht comes with a standard galley kit (pots, pans, knives, cutting boards, etc.). However, many successful hosts bring a few of their favorite tools to make cooking easier and to ensure they can prepare their signature recipes under yacht conditions.
Recommended essentials
Knife set (sharp, reliable knives are the #1 item)
Plastic spatula
Tongs
Oven glove
Loaf tin (great for banana bread & cakes)
Quality non-stick frying pan
Sieve
Nice-to-have extras
If you have the space and budget, these items make your life easier or your food presentation shine:
Garlic crusher
Spiraliser
Plastic dish rack
Round metal cookie cutters
Melon baller
Microplane (zester/grater)
Measuring spoons/cups
Muffin cups
Food & ingredients
Bring what helps you cook your favourite recipes. Specialty spices, baking ingredients, or tools that might not be available locally are smart to pack. Remember that provisioning abroad (Croatia: Kaufland, Greece: Metro Cash & Carry) can be slightly different than at home — some familiar products may not exist, so improvisation is key.
General advice
Label your tools and keep a checklist to avoid leaving things behind.
Practice cooking in limited space and time before you arrive.
Keep your packing practical — you’ll be carrying everything with you on and off yachts.
