What are the key things you are looking for in my application?

What qualities and experiences Quarterdeck is looking for when we decide who will be accepted or rejected to Skipper Academy.

Updated over 6 months ago

We’re looking for more than just experience — we’re looking for people who are ready to be part of an incredible team.

✔️ Your CV should highlight:

  • Relevant sailing, hospitality, leadership, or guest-facing experience

  • Any formal certifications (e.g. skipper licenses, first aid, STCW, etc.)

✔️ Your cover letter should show us:

  • Why you want to join Quarterdeck and/or the Yacht Week team

  • What makes you stand out — skills, mindset, or personality

  • What excites you about this type of work and lifestyle

✔️ Your Profile in the admin system should include:

  • Your work experience. Please list all work experience with some relevance, even if it's not yachting related. It helps us better understand your profile and skillset.

  • Go to “availability” on your QD Profile in the admin system and mark all weeks you are available to work during the Mediterranean season. Your first season will predominantly include work for Yacht Week, which typically takes place between week 23 and week 37 (June–July–August). If you don't fill out your availability we cannot assess if you will be able to work when needed, high availability is preferred. If you fill out incorrect availability and later amend your availability, or reject work, it will have a negative effect in how we prioritise you.

  • Make sure all info on your profile is filled out correctly.

Most importantly, we want to see that you’re hardworking, adaptable, and genuinely excited to create amazing experiences for others. Experience helps — but attitude, energy, and team spirit are what really count.
