What First Aid do you accept?

Updated over 5 months ago

We accept national first-aid certifications that are current and hands-on. STCW Basic Training (or STCW Medical First Aid) is preferred and may open more doors globally, but you don’t need STCW to attend Academy if your national cert is solid.

Examples we accept (non-exhaustive):

  • STCW Basic Training (preferred worldwide)

  • Paramedic/EMT (state- or country-licensed) + current CPR/AED

  • National First Aid at Work (or equivalent) + CPR/AED with practical components (e.g., UK FAW/EFAW, Red Cross/Red Crescent, AHA BLS, etc.)

What we look for:

  • Practical training (not theory-only) covering CPR/AED, bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, hypothermia/heat illness, drowning/near-drowning, and recognition of serious conditions.

  • Validity: Still in date for the season (many certs are 2–3 years; CPR/AED often 1–2 years).

  • Language: English certificate or an English note/translation is helpful.
